Nighthawks Stay Undefeated

Ty Dilello – Niverville Citizen

The Niverville Nighthawks improved their record to 3–0–0 on the season after a big 3–2 Friday night win on the road over the Swan Valley Stampeders.

After giving up the first goal of the game midway through the first period, the Nighthawks tied the game off defenceman Eric Martin’s first goal of the season. The goal was assisted by Caleb Lepitre and Matthew Healey.

In the second period, 17-year-old Nathan Brown, a college recruit of St. Cloud State University, scored his second goal of the year on a solo effort to put the Nighthawks up 2–1.

Although Swan Valley would tie the game late in the second frame, the Nighthawks pulled ahead early in the final period with a goal from Michael Debrito, with assists from Kyle Bocheck and team captain Brett Tataryn.

This one would ultimately hold up as the game winner, lifting the Nighthawks to the 3-2 victory.

Keegan Gordon stopped 30 shots in goal for the Nighthawks in the win.

The Nighthawks are back in action with another road game tonight against the OCN Blizzard. The puck drops at 7:30 p.m.
