If you’ve ever been to a Nighthawks game, you will have seen the hard work of about 35 volunteers, per game, creating a fun, family friendly environment for a fantastic night of hockey! From handing out game day programs, selling tickets, scanning and stamping, crowd control, merch booth, bar tokens, bartending, the Street Team, selling 50/50 and hosting our Game Day Sponsors. With our behind the scene volunteers with the setup crew, 1st responders, penalty box, clock, live score sheet, announcing and the planning that goes into each and every game day! Thank you to our many awesome volunteers, for your contributions and dedication to the Nighthawk Volunteer Family!
VOLUNTEERS OF THE YEAR 2024-2025
Susan Shaver – Volunteer of the Year 2024-2025
Susan has been a volunteer with the nighthawks, since the first game of the 2022-2023 season. Susan shows up to every game, with her medical bag and high vis jacket. She has been on the emergency medical team here in the Community and has since taken on the role of a trainer, training young up and coming paramedics. It’s always a good night when we do not need Susan’s services, but it is comforting knowing she is available. Thank you, Susan, for giving of your time and sharing your training to provide medical care for injured fans.
Dana Reuther – Volunteer of the Year 2024-2025
Dana has been a faithful volunteer with the nighthawks, since the first game of the 2022-2023 season. The past three years, she has taken on the role as the financial admin at the Nighthawk games. She seldom misses a game, and when she does, we miss the strengths she brings to each game. Dana is not limited to volunteering at the games, she has willing given of her time to volunteer at the Gala and at the golf tournament.
Luc David – Volunteer of the Year 2024-2025
Luc has been a volunteer with the nighthawks, since the first game of the 2022-2023 season. Luc seldom misses a game and arrives no less than two hours before puck drop. He has taken on the role of pregame setup; this includes everything from bar setup to rolling out the carpet for the Anthem singers. During the game Luc spends his time in the home penalty box (nice place for a retired principal) counting shots on net and managing the gate for players serving penalties. Post game, before he leaves the arena, He makes sure all setup has been stored away and ready for the next game.
Darryl Rempel – Volunteer of the Year 2024-2025
Darryl has been a volunteer with the nighthawks, since the first game of the 2022-2023 season. Darryl is at every game; he arrives early to help Luc with Pregame setup. He has become a Pro at hanging the signs in the concourse. Darryl spent two years in the visitor’s penalty box counting shots on net and tending to the gate for visitors serving penalties. Year three Darryl has taken on a few new tasks, one of them is the live time sheet. One of the most stressful positions that requires efficiency in a timely manner. Darryl has also volunteered operating the video camera, along side KP as he broadcasts the game for fans watching at home. Darryl can be seen leaving the arena with Luc after completing tear down.
Gena Artemchuk – Volunteer of the Year 2024-2025
Gena has been a volunteer with the nighthawks, from the very beginning. The past three years, Gena has been on the live score sheet and has become one of the best with quick and accurate documentation. This information needs to get to Kevin Pauls, the voice of the Nighthawks, who is announcing the game on live TV to our fans that are watching from home.
